Since my blog is do something great.blogspot I have decided that I need to get back to my ORIGINAL blog plan. Not that I've been that far off just haven't been complete. What I mean is that I want my blog to have things that are MOST important to me on here. That would include The Church, Family, Friends and other Odd things I get caught up in that I'm passionate about. So... with that said I will try to be more faithful with adding my church insights on here as I used to do.
Tonight I was blessed with the opportunity to go to the Relief Society meeting with my mother in law and sister in law Anne. This is a treat twice a year that I never miss out on. Each time I feel re-newed, uplifted, appreciated and determined to be a better woman of the Gospel. Here are my notes from tonight meeting. It would be worth your time to read if you did not have the opportunity to attend tonight.
Sister Julie B. Beck RS Pres: How do we stand strong and immovable in faith, family and relief?
1. Faith- we need to EXCELL as women at ensuring our testimony, keeping our covenants, temple attendance, daily scripture study, FHE, prayer and self reliance.
2. Family- We need to uphold, nourish, defend and protect our families and what they stand for. Embrace the priesthood, maintain strong marriages, Defend the roles of women and of strong families and delight in our role: GETTING MARRIED, HAVING CHILDREN and TEACHING OUR CHILDREN
3. Relief- means to lift up to and to lighten. Who needs your help???? JUST ASK!
Sister Silvia Allred- 1st coun. RS Pres: The two roles we have as RS Sisters are to 1. Relieve the poor and 2. Save Souls. We are called upon to "feed his sheep"
one wonderful way we can do this is by Visiting Teaching. When we VT we support, comfort and build strong friendships. We can then learn of the physical, spiritual and emotional needs of our sisters. We creat love, friendship and trust. Do your visiting teaching it is SO IMPORTANT (I have a whole lesson on this that I personally gave in RS in Georgia....I feel very passionatly about being reliable and outgoing and putting yourself out there for the sake of the sisters you are called to teach). It's an important calling from our Heavenly Father. Don't be flaky...give it your all. There will be mounds of blessings in it.
Sister Barbara Thompson- 2nd coun.: What is happening to family? Satan is attacking so harshly and we need to abandon the belief to go along with the world. Satan is the great discourager.
What is the difference between a STABLE and DYSFUNCTIONAL family? A stable family knows who they are, where they are going and what they want to achieve. They teach by example.
Keep in mind.
*Children are precious, tell them you love them, express kind words, teach them to pray. Read to them, have FHE. Know the family proclamation. with kids comes much needed patience.....so if you need to put yourself in time out to cool down, it's ok.
The Savior is there to provide relief to the family. In Isaiah 41:10,13,14 it reads:
10 ¶ aFear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness 13 For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.
14 Fear not, thou aworm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the bLord, and thy credeemer, the dHoly One of Israel
Thomas S. Monson: 1. Study Dilligently. Seek learning. Search the scriptures to help your testimony.2 Timothy 1:7-8-- 7 For God hath not given us the spirit of afear; but of bpower, and of clove, and of a sound mind.
8 Be not thou therefore aashamed of the btestimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;
(did you know a study was done that shows the avg. kid watched 4 hrs of TV a day and movies and video games are on top of that....scary)
Be Prepared to Provide.
2. PRAY always. Prayers heeds off temptation. Teach by word and example. DO NOT PRAY FOR ABILITIES TO EQUAL YOUR TASKS. PRAY FOR TASKS TO EQUAL YOUR ABILITIES.
3. Serve Willingly. Charity never faileth. Do small things often. including VT.
Hope those where somewhat uplifting and challenging to us all.
LOVE YOU all. xoxo
